If You Think You Are Beaten, You Are;
If You Think That You Dare Not, You Don’t;
If You’d Like To Win, But You Think You Can’t
It’s Almost Certain You Won’t.

“Hey… You seemed distracted today. Is everything alright?” Dharam and Vaigyanika were cleaning up after the party. “Just thinking about us.”Vaigyanika had a lost look in her eyes. “Today was nice.” “Nice?” Dharam asked, picking up a plate. “It seemed like we were in a warzone. We were walking on landmines, one wrong step, and then a poof! A deadly explosion.” “Don’t exaggerate,” Vaigyanika said. “It is our family.”
My mom often gets upset when she sees my nose buried in a book or my entire attention focused on the bright and glowing screen in front of me. A lot of parents these days say that their children are distracted, spending most of their time in an imaginary world. The world could be anything: books, movies, TV shows, or social media. People have often asked me why I am so obsessed with a particular brand or a fictional character and to that, I usually do not have an answer except that I really like it.
In times like today, when people are more likely to experience poor mental health, loneliness, isolation, and poor self-esteem, social inclusion is an important determinant of health. People with disabilities unnecessarily experience life quite differently. It is the sad truth that discrimination for something that they had no control over is common for them and often normalized in being treated that way when it is not, in fact, normal.
